要旨
本年10月23日～26日京都において薬事規制当局サミット及び薬事規制当局国際連携組織（ICMRA）会合が日本で初めて開催されました。本「京都会合」には、世界29の国と地域から、薬事規制当局の代表を含む延べ86人が参加し、医薬品・医療機器・再生医療等のイノベーションを主要テーマとし、薬事規制の在り方、審査手続き、市販後調査、製品の安定供給、危機管理等の様々な課題について意見交換を行いました。
京都会合は非公開で行われましたが、閉幕した翌10月27日に、京都会合の成果をいち早く報告するためのシンポジウムを開催し、約1,500人が聴衆として参加しました。このような薬事規制当局サミットに連動する公開シンポジウムの開催は、初めての試みでした。また、これだけ多くの各国規制当局の代表が一堂に日本に集い、講演を行うのも初めてのことでした。
本シンポジウムでは京都会合の速報に加え、各国や産業界の代表から革新的技術やその実用化の現状や今後、それらに対応するための各国薬事規制当局の取組や挑戦が紹介されました。さらにはノーベル賞受賞者である山中伸弥教授のご講演が聴講できる貴重な機会となりました。
