Workshop on New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) Held following ICCR-20

The Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA) will hold a workshop on New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) following the 20th meeting of the International Cooperation on Cosmetics Regulations (ICCR-20).

ICCR has been conducting extensive discussions over many years with the aim of promoting the development and utilization of NAMs. At this year’s meeting, chaired by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, stakeholders will gather and discuss with the aim of establishing a common understanding among participating jurisdictions regarding technical challenges in cosmetic regulations, building on the knowledge and experience accumulated to date.

PMDA has organized this workshop in conjunction with ICCR-20 to promote a common international understanding of NAMs, which have long been a key issue in the field of medicinal cosmetics, and to facilitate their further use. The workshop will provide an opportunity to share the latest developments in NAMs and to enhance practical understanding through group discussions and case studies using mock scenarios.
PMDA expects that this workshop will contribute to further deepening international understanding of NAMs and to better addressing public needs in the field of medicinal cosmetics.
